I just had to chuckle at a recent conversation we had with our daughter, April. When we were packing for our March holiday- which includes 4 different VRBO homes, I decided to pack a duffle with our new 600 thread count sheets and our Turkish towels. When our daughter saw the bag, Byron commented that her mother had become a “sheet snob” since I had insisted we bring the luxurious linen for our own personal getaway.
After thinking about the comment, I thought it would be fun to follow our linen history over our tenure of owning Brewster by the Sea and the Captain Freeman Inn and to tell you about the new linen coming to the Freeman this spring.

When we first purchased Brewster by the Sea many years ago we decided right from the get go that we needed to do the “bed” and the “breakfast” really well. We invested in the european style mattress toppers that I enjoyed during my buying trips to Europe and decided to also include triple sheets, down like fiber alternative duvets and high thread count sheets. We used a company that specializes in linen for inns and were impressed with a high quality 600 thread count sheet that they imported. We immediately knew we had made the right decision when guests would come over in the morning and ask where we got our sheets. We sold dozens of them in our gift shop over the years. After several years of loving our sheets we learned that the manufacturer was going out of business with no similar replacement available. For years we tried to find the exact sheet with no luck. We finally settled on a lesser thread count mixed blend that fit our needs. Last year we were tickled to learn that Innstyle had resourced a new factory to make the same sheet again and while it came with a high price tag we were committed to buying them again.
Last summer we started bringing in the new sheets but since our old ones were still in good shape it was hard to justify switching them all out at once. We only had a few and whenever Byron and I made our personal bed up clean I always looked for the new sheets.
Where do I begin to describe the feeling….it’s the softest most heavenly texture, it’s thick, yet does not feel heavy. It’s such a luxurious way to fall asleep.I loved them so much that I gave all of our family members a sheets set for the holidays. Then they loved them so much that they wanted us to order them for their friends. I am telling you folks- these sheets are contagious!
Happy to report that we are switching out the entire inn by May and will have sets available in our gift shop for guests to take home.
I may be a sheet snob- but you know I am not embarrassed at all. These sheets are pretty remarkable, and we are so glad to be able to share them with our guests again.
Happy Spring everyone!
p.s. we also believe in having lots of pillow options for our guests. Each queen room has 4 pillows and the king rooms have 6 – all with two different fills, one soft and one hard. Each closet also has an extra cotton blanket and pillow. After all it’s all about the “bed” experience and our delicious “breakfast”

While you may be tempted to just stay in bed all morning with our luxurious linens, remember that the Captain Freeman Inn is also known for our delicious breakfasts- always homemade and filled with many healthy farm to table ingredients. Our charming seaside inn features beautifully appointed boutique king and queen rooms with luxurious artisan soaps and amenities. The inn is located in the beautiful town of Brewster, Ma and is just a short stroll to Breakwater beach, fine dining and an old fashion General Store. Check out a previous blog that describes why we feel Brewster is so special. Browse our rooms, reserve your stay before the summer bookings fill up, and enjoy your idyllic Cape Cod getaway with us. Also remember that we have many Cape Cod Packages to choose from including in-room massages and whale watching packages.
Exhaling on Cape Cod and loving every minute of it.
