The Captain Freeman Inn is located in the sea captain’s town of Brewster- considered by many to be Cape Cod’s most picturesque town! We could not agree more as we love our quaint town that is not only historic and quiet and also filled with so many wonderful attractions for our guests to enjoy. More than anything else, our guests refer to Brewster as a slice of heaven. We’ll take that.
Our top things to do in Brewster, Cape Cod:
Enjoy amazing food
Whether you are a “foodie” or a casual clam shack diner- we have you covered in Brewster. We love our Brewster Fish House and Spinnaker for fine dining-both are within walking distance from the inn. If you are looking for delicious lobster rolls or fried clams we also have several clam shacks in Brewster that we love to recommend, including Kate’s and JT’s. For ice cream, take a quick little walk from the inn to Brewster Scoop and we adore the bakery Eat Cake 4 Breakfast!

Watch the sun set
With Brewster located on the bay side of the Cape, the sunsets are absolutely breathtaking. Breakwater Beach is just a short stroll from the inn and the sunsets are astounding! We are known for our tidal flats and we encourage our guests to experience our beaches at both high tide for swimming and low tide for walking. We also love to drive to Paine’s Creek Beach and Ellis Landing Beach where the sunsets are spectacular!

Explore nature in our parks and trails
Nickerson State park is just a few miles from the inn and is filled with kettle ponds and peaceful walking trails. We love to walk around Cliff Pond and the nature trail at Wing Island.

Shopping
The Brewster General Store is just a few steps from the inn and what a treasure! Specialty gifts, cards, books, household items, penny candy and ice cream!
Along Rt 6A, there are many interesting shops and galleries. Some of our favorites are Cape Cod Bag Company, The Cook Shop, The Brewster Bookstore and Sydenstricker Glass.
Play Ball!
Our Brewster Whitecaps won the championship last summer! Oh what a joy it was to watch the win. Come experience the talented players play summer ball.

Bike on the Cape Cod Rail Trail
The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a wonderful way to experience Cape Cod as it meanders through six towns. The trail runs right through Brewster and you can easily connect from the inn. You can bike, walk or run and the entire length of the Rail Trail is 22 miles!
Cape Cod Natural History Museum
A small museum focusing on natural history and archaeology with an additional 400 acres of conservation land that covers a wide range of habitats, including salt marshes, a barrier beach, nature trails and a small river, Stony Brook, which functions as a herring run during the spring. A wonderful place to bond with nature and learn some new things.

Walk around the historic Grist Mill and Herring Run
The Grist Mill is open in the summer for tours and the herring run is quite a sight in the spring.

Kayak or Paddle Board on Cape Cod Bay or our kettle ponds
We love to recommend Cape Cod Bike and Kayak for your rental equipment. They will deliver your kayak to any spot in Brewster.
Visit our favorite coffee house, Snowy Owl
Snowy Owl, located on 6A, just a few minutes from the inn is a great coffee house and cafe. It is comfortable and cozy and serves ethically sourced specialty coffee, beverages and snacks.
Enjoy a play at the Cape Rep Theatre
Cape Cod’s favorite regional theater! Producing everything from new work and classic musicals to outdoor children’s shows.
