What a fall we have had this year on Cape Cod!
Byron, Harrison and Donna have hiked, played and eaten our way through Cape Cod over the past few weeks. The weather has been glorious, and we have had so much fun! With all of this great weather (excluding the week when Jose skirted our coast) the inn has been almost totally full in September & October. We have met such wonderful folks, including the joy of seeing our repeat guests that love to travel in the fall when the Cape is less crowded. This next week is our first week of seeing a slowdown- as soon as that happens…….BAM………Donna starts thinking about Thanksgiving & Christmas. It happens every year, and I am guessing it is driving Byron crazy along with all of my fall cleaning and reorganizing……you know it’s a innkeeper/woman kinda thing.
I adore the holidays and decorating the inn. This picture above was from last year. We just redecorated the main parlor and the new design has allowed more breakfast dining space. The new rustic shelving in the tea area will also make for a great spot to display our Dickens Village which has so many lovely pieces including a Light House, Church & Train Station. It reminds me of Brewster with all of our quaint old fashion buildings along the Old Historic Highway. More pictures to follow the first past of December.
November and December are a special time on Cape Cod as all of our little towns have special celebrations. Listed below is a summary for those planning a Cape Cod getaway.
November 16-18– The cultural center of Cape Cod is such a treasure with many workshops, art classes and cooking demonstrations. This Year the Garden Club of Hyannis will be showcasing a theme of “Celebrations Around the World” Delight in many tables capes, holiday room decor and impressive floral arrangements. There also will be a treasured boutique offering of many handmade items for sale. Admission is $25 and runs from 10-5. cultural-center.org
November 18th– the 14th annual Eastham Turnip Festival Turnip themed fun for all ages. Live bluegrass music with crafts- including Mr. Turnip Head decorating contest. With more then 60 merchants this is the largest gathering of farmers, artisans and hand crafters on the Outer Cape. easthamlibrary.org

November 22nd- Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument The annual lighting of he Pilgrim Monument celebrates the Pilgrim’s first Landing in America at Provincetown. 5- 6:30 pilgrim-monument.org
November 24-25- Museum Mini-Golf Revisit summer fun in November and play 18 holes of indoor gold especially designed to view the Cape Cod Natural History Museum. ccmnh.org
November 24th- December 30th- Gardens Aglow This treasured holiday tradition features beautiful light displays throughout the gardens and performances. December 1-24th- 16th annual Cape Cod Enchanted Village A magnificent display of lights, Santa’s Villages, snowmen, Christmas decorations and bonfire. capecodderresort.com
December 3rd- Yarmouth Port Christmas Stroll- a festive day of yummy treats, holiday tunes, Santa Sightings and meandering through the historic village of Yarmouth Port. The stroll begins at 1pm and ends with the tree lighting at 4:15 on the green. yarmouthcapecod.com
December 7th & 23rd- I, Claude Monet- From award winning director Phil Grabsky comes this fresh new look at Monet.
