Summer on Cape Cod is quite a magical experience! We have sun, beaches, fabulous dining, breathtaking sunsets, plenty of culture and some fun live entertainment. Our live entertainment comes in all forms- some oldies but goodies in the Melody tent, an old fashion dive bar just up the street, picnic style band music, music on boats, music overlooking beaches, music on park squares- you get the picture we have all kinds of live music on Cape Cod. Outlined below is a summary so that you can choose which is the perfect entertainment to enjoy during your summer stay at the Captain Freeman Inn in Brewster:
Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis is a treasure on Cape Cod and one of the oldest continuously-operating tent theaters-in-the-round in the US. A 2,300-seat summer, open-air theatre that hosts national artists and comedians on a revolving stage. No seat is more than 50 feet from the stage! You can purchase your tickets here. Brothers Osborne, recently on the country charts with “I don’t remember me” will visit for the first time on August 22nd. Also visiting is Jamey Johnson (we saw him in Nashville) Kip Moore, Lee Brice and Aaron Lewis and so much more.
Payomet Performing Arts Center in North Truro is a small venue with plenty of character. The setting is under a tent with an up close stage. You may also want to check out an old abandoned air force radar station on the coast right next to the center. This season’s lineup has plenty to consider including Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, the Zombies, Blue Oyster Cult and Max Weinberg’s Jukebox. (Make sure to remember your bug spray) You can check out the calendar here.
Wellfleet Beachcomber is a perfect bar setting with a breath taking beach just steps away. This summer’s schedule includes Pink Talking Fish, Talking Heads of Phish and former pro surfer/current singer-songwriter Donovan Frankenrieter. Check out their summer schedule here.
The Woodshed in Brewster captures the true meaning of a dive bar- local talent, not great food, cash only, kinda smelly and always a line. It’s a local watering hole that really doesn’t match our small town quaint vibe in Brewster but is a great spot to catch some local talent.
The Brewster Band- we adore our Brewster Band which plays in Drummer Boy Park every Sunday evening. It’s old time Americana at it’s finest! The concert begins at 6pm and is free. Bring a picnic dinner and join in on the fun for a nice relaxing evening of music by the bay!
Hy-Line Cape Cod Canal Live Music- if you want to combine a boat ride while listening to music this venue is for you! Local acts include the George Gritzbach Band, Digney Fignus, Soul Purposes and the Aaron Norcross Trio. You can check out their calendar here.
Provincetown Jazz Festival- started in 2005, their goal was to bring the finest jazz musicians together for two fantastic days, every August in Cape Cod. This year’s schedule includes Jessica Curran and 15 year old guitarist Henry Acker, Katie Thiroux and pianist Kevin Harris. Check out the calendar here.
The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra- led by Keith Lockhart will return to perform on the Hyannis Village Green. This year the concert is on August 11th, the the guest celebrity conductor yet to be announced.
The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival in it’s 40th season will feature concerts throughout the Cape from August 1-23rd. Among the highlights this year a 100th birthday celebration of Leonard Bernstein, with an appearance by Bernstein’s daughter, Jamie
The Meeting House Chamber Music Festival- will include 6 July concerts with a variety of guest artists in Orleans for it’s 46th year. Check out their calendar here.
