I have always rooted for the Red Socks- ever since I was a little girl and especially now that we live on Cape Cod and are close to Fenway Stadium.
We also have a very important summer baseball league on Cape Cod and our very own Brewster White Caps won the championship last year. We have had quite a few scouts stay with us at our inn as this league is known for attracting young talent in baseball.
Yesterday’s mornings headlines of our Cape Cod Times read – “Sharing the Spotlight”. While not being an avid sports fan to know all the details of each player, I was tickled to read that 14 players from the Cape Cod Baseball League are now playing in the World Series for either the Red Sox or the Los Angeles Dodgers- how exciting is that!
Red Sox center fielder Jackie Brady Jr. played for the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2009 and a local general manager for the league speaks in this article about what a pleasure it is to host these talented kids on Cape Cod while they develop their talents.
While Byron and I could never afford the current tickets for the World Series, we loved cheering on in person our local Brewster White Caps for the 2017 championship. There is something so exhilarating to watch an old fashion baseball game, with a hot dog in hand and your dog at your side and seeing your local team win the championship.
For today we are cheering on the Red Socks for the championship and looking forward to summer baseball on Cape Cod in 2019 where we can witness future winners!
