The colors on Cape Cod in the fall are vibrant and beautiful and while we may not be as colorful as Vermont and Maine, we adore everything Fall on Cape Cod and find our colors to be breathtaking! This is the time of year when Byron and I are beckoned to walk on our favorite walk trails. Harrison is always happy too, as many of them involve water, and he get to go swimming:)
Shown below are 4 of our favorites:
Our favorite Fall Walking Trails on Cape Cod
Great Island- Wellfleet
This trail is a combination of beach walking on the bay and forest trails near Wellfleet Harbor. We could spend a full afternoon hiking around this island. After your hike, stop by in Wellfleet and enjoy a good burger or Wellfleet Oyster at the Wicked Oyster– a local hangout that is always good and open year round.
Nickerson State Park, Brewster
This beautiful park is just up the street from our Boutique Bed and Breakfast and during the quiet season we go there frequently. Our favorite walk is around Higgins Pond and the fall colors never disappoint. After your hike, grab a delicious fresh lobster roll at Sir Crickets in Orleans.
Wing Island, Brewster
Just a few miles west of the inn is our treasured Cape Cod Natural History Museum. They maintain a wonderful nature trail over to Wing Island. When we owned Brewster by the Sea we walked this path almost daily, and I was continually amazed that I would get goose bumps every time I came out of the forest looking at beautiful vistas of Cape Cod Bay. After your walk stop in our favorite lunch spot, Cafe Alfresco for a Scallop sandwich- YUM!
Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, Chatham
The National Wildlife Refuge System in Chatham is run by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This beautiful land and waters is set aside to conserve America’s fish, wildlife, and plants. We had not heard much about this land but were in awe when we visited. There are very well maintained stairs and nature paths that lead to pristine beaches. While you are in Chatham stop by the Lighthouse and visit the Chatham Fish Pier for an up close view of our seals on Cape Cod
Come Stay with us
The inn is decorated for fall and the weather perfect for serene walks on the beach or one of our many nature trails. Our front porch rocking chairs are beckoning you to relax and read a good book.
We are having fun with our fall recipes including today’s tea of Apple Cider Bundt Cake.
Happy Fall Everyone!
