When guests ask us what are some of our favorite things to do on Cape Cod, Byron and I can go on forever- there are just so many places and experiences to enjoy during your stay in our little slice of heaven.
I grew up with my parents having a small motorboat, and I loved our weekend rides going up the Hudson. My Dad was just so happy when he was on his boat. I also have so many happy memories of my summers on Cape Cod with my best friend’s family. We would boat ride over to Monomoy Island and also sail around a small lake near our cottage.
I thought it would be a fun blog topic to talk about our favorite boat excursions- which are plentiful on our little peninsula.
Cape Sail with Captain Bob
We love Captain Bob and have enjoyed many hours on Nantucket Sound with Captain Bob. He is a jovial sort of fellow who enjoys Cape Cod and loves to share his vessel, the Sabbatical, with his clients. He offers private sailing charters, which many of our guests have enjoyed, as well as a variety of learn-to-sail programs from beginners to advanced. The Sabbatical is a rugged Southern Cross sailboat – proven ocean passage makers. Whether you are interested in a half-day sail boat charter, overnights to the islands or gaining the confidence and competence to skipper your own boat, Bob’s patience, experience and skill can meet your needs. Bob has been a Coast Guard – Licensed Captain since 1983.
Bay Spirit Tour
If you are looking for a fun catamaran boat ride check out the Bay Spirits. It was built in Saint Petersburg, Florida by Cooper Marine in 2001. First used by the Florida Aquarium for dolphin watching tours, the Bay Spirit was purchased by Bob and Jake Kohl in June of 2009.
Depending on what you’re looking to do, the Bay Spirit has a variety of excursions: a 75 minute Lighthouse Harbor Tour where tour guides tell you the history dating back to the 1800’s about the local lighthouses in the area, a Hyannis Port tour that circles around the Kennedy Compound as well as some of the other nice homes in the area, and a sunset cruise to see the beautiful sunsets around Hyannis Port.
Whale Watching out of Provincetown on the Dolphin Fleet
Many of our guests come to enjoy our whale watching package. We love the folks at the Dolphin Fleet that are always so friendly and ready to make your 4+ hours tour a adventure to remember. You will see whales during your boat trip and the question is not if you will see whales but how many will you see. We also like to recommend that you tour the Pilgrim Monument and also have lunch or dinner at the Lobster Pot.
Check out a previous blog for more details about whale watching on Cape Cod.
Monomoy Island Ferry
I have always loved seals! There is something so darling about their faces. We have plenty of them on Cape Cod and our favorite way to see them is on the Rip Ryderfor with Captain Keith. The tour is filled with the best ocean fun and tours around lighthouses and Monomoy island where you will get a close up view of many seals. Check out a previous blog for more details on how to see seals on Cape Cod.
Cape Cod Canal Live Music Cruise
Our Cape Cod Canal is quite a site and one can see it in so many ways! Some of our favorites are riding along the bike path, having lunch or dinner at Fishermen’s View or best of all- riding on the Viking boat, enjoying an adult beverage while seeing the sites and listening to live music.
Cape Cod is magical for all 4 seasons but summer truly is an awesome time to enjoy nature, beaches, water sports and boat rides. Let us help you plan a wonderful getaway that could include any of the five boat excursions listed above.
The Captain Freeman Inn is the best inn on Cape Cod, and we are so delighted to share our inn with our guests- where fine lodging is in the details!
