Pizza Cooking School at the Captain Freeman

We have been on vacation in Sedona for the past three weeks and have been enjoying the great food. (it’s fun to eat out every night when on vacation:) We have been amazed at how many restaurants are getting into artisan pizzas. It’s not the same kind of pizza we all think of that you can get delivered to your home. It’s the kind of pizza that has an old fashion pizza crust, delicious homemade sauces, yummy farm to table toppings such as artichokes, greens, fresh vegetables and fine cheeses. As we were enjoying our pizza last night we both commented at the perfect timing for our new class on May 2nd at the Captain Freeman Inn.

We have a wonderful relationship with a past employee, Sunie Pope. She was our innkeeper/chef when we first opened the Captain Freeman 5 years ago. She is also a yoga teacher and taught personal yoga classes to many of our guests on the beach.

Several months ago as we were enjoying a glass of wine with Suni and catching up on our lives, we decided to have a pizza cooking class at the Freeman on May 2nd. Sunie has made many wonderful pizza for us in the past and we thought this would be a fun afternoon to enjoy with our guests.

Sunie comes with an impressive culinary background where she attended the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts where she received her Natural Foods Chef certificate. Her creative, healthy techniques make for a wonderful combination.  Cooking package includes afternoon class, wine tasting with antipasti, salad, pizza and dessert with plenty of laughter and good cheer shared with fellow guests, innkeepers and chef.

A little sampling of the menu includes Broccoli Rabe, Panelle  and Bruschetta
Pizza with Figs, Gorgonzola, Prosciutto, and Basil, BBQ Chicken Pizza with Bacon and Gouda
Margherita Pizza thin crust and White Pizza with Arugula, Lemon, Parmesan and Ricotta.

The class will be from 2 – 4:30 PM on Saturday May 2nd with wine tasting that is paired with the food made in the class beginning around 5:30. We then all gather fireside to enjoy all of the food made earlier in the class along with plenty of laughter and good cheer!

The two night package can be either a Friday/Saturday stay or a Saturday/Sunday stay in best available room at time of booking. The package includes breakfast each morning, afternoon tea, cooking school for two with wine tasting and dinner afterwards. 2 night package- $649 plus tax

For our local neighbors we have created a one night package for Saturday night which includes the cooking school for 2, wine tasting and the dinner afterwards, staying in the best available room at time of booking with breakfast on Sunday- $499 plus tax

This weekend is a perfect time to visit the inn as our small town of Brewster is also celebrating spring with Brewster in Bloom. Enjoy an old fashion parade Sunday morning with many of our galleries and stores having fun programs.
