Scenic Spots on Cape Cod

Cape Cod is filled with so many scenic spots! We love to act as your personal concierge service  once we know your interests, as we have an array of locations to recommend. Shown below are some of our favorites and as you probably already know- many are beaches!

 

Innkeeper’s favorite locations on Cape Cod

Nauset Beach-

Guests will often ask us which is our favorite beach on Cape Cod. We always have a hard time answering that one as they are all beautiful- each with their own special character. High on our list is Nauset Beach in Orleans. You can walk for miles and miles and it’s easy to access from the Freeman. You will frequently see Pipping Plovers and their nests on this beach and since it is a protected species there sometimes will be signs asking you to stay clear of the nesting areas.

 

Highland Light House in Truro

Lighthouses are abound on Cape Cod and it’s  fun to see see these historic and mammoth structures that were so critical for nautical safety in the 1900’s. Check out a previous blog for more details on our lighthouses.

 

Paines Creek at Sunset

Many of the professional photographers come to this beach to capture the sunset cascading beautiful colors on the bay. The Creek feeding into the bay also creates a wonderful place to swim in the summertime.

 

Cahoon Hollow in Wellfleet

 

This picture was taken from the parking lot at the Beachcomber Restaurant. A perfect day can be had by sunning on this beach and then having a bite to eat at the Beachcomber.

 

White Cedar Swamp Trail near Marconi Beach

We adore White Cedar Swamp Trail in the Marconi complex. It’s a magical walk – lighting up all your senses with salt water breezes, swamp smells, beautiful trees with sounds of the waves crashing on Marconi Beach in the background.

Provincetown Harbor

P’Town is quite a crazy destination with plenty of parties and celebrations. They also have breathtaking beaches and a picturesque harbor.

Chatham Fish Pier

The Chatham Fish Pier has beautiful views of  Monomoy Island and beyond. The seals frequent here too, which makes for comical viewing.

Breakwater Beach in Brewster

Breakwater Beach is just a short stroll from the inn and our sunsets are quite extraordinary- Byron was able to catch this great shot of a paddle boarder fishing at sunset.

 

 

Captain Freeman Inn’s Gardens

We may be a little prejudice- BUT we feel the gardens at our inn are very special. Our country garden are filled with lavender, vegetables, herbs and flowers- including a very special fountain!

 

Brewster Flats

The Brewster Flats are the widest expanse of tidal flats in North America, rivaled in the western hemisphere only by a similar expanse in Brazil. Our flats extend all the way to North Eastham. It’s the perfect place to walk with your flip flops and experience al of the bay habitat including our famous oysters.

Monomoy National Wildlife Preserve

Beautiful trails with monumental views of Monomoy Island.

Great Island in Wellfleet

One of our favorite walking trails is on Great Island in Wellfleet. Many times you will be walking all alone.

Nickerson State Park in Brewster

Nickerson State Park is just up the street from the inn and it is filled with walking and bike trails that take you around picturesque lakes.
