I have always loved hydrangeas! We have many hydrangea plants in our gardens and many of our brides use them in their bouquets. Our in- house photographer always gets creative with the pictures of our bride’s bouquet as shown here with our front statues. In my mind, there is nothing more special then a hydrangea and rose bouquet.

At the Captain Freeman Inn on Cape Cod, we have a welcoming tray for our guests that includes truffles from Brewster Sweets, a bag of local lavender from the Cape Cod Lavender Farm and a fresh bouquet of roses and hydrangeas. We feel it’s a perfect way to welcome our guests to Cape Cod.
This gorgeous bouquet was made for a special inn tour we did for the Brewster Historical society by our fabulous florist Debbie, at Moonshell Design.

July is always a special month on Cape Cod as the hydrangeas are in full bloom. We also love to recommend to our guests that they enjoy the newly formed Second Annual Hydrangea festival from July 8-17th. The festival includes tours of private gardens, each with their own character and charm.
Guest can enjoy workshops and lectures presented by leading international horticulturalists which includes helpful tips on growing and pruning these lovely flowers. Local artists will also be opening their studios where you can watch a painting demonstration by renowned Cape Cod artists both in-studio and in the gardens themselves.
Guests often ask us how we grow such beautiful hydrangeas. I always have to smile as hydrangeas grow very naturally here on Cape Cod as the soil has perfect acidity for them to produce beautiful stems all summer long.

This year we are concentrating on our gardens with a beautiful new vegetable garden, many new hydrangeas and perennial flowers.

This new hydrangea garden is beside our raspberry patch.

Visit CapeCodHydrangeaFestival.com to view the complete list of gardens and events. Garden tours are $5 per person per garden.
Check out our last minute July specials at the Captain Freeman Inn and plan a gardening vacation on Cape Cod to see these beautiful gardens and learn how to grow them in your garden.

And after a day of visiting beautiful gardens, come back to the inn and enjoy a glass of ice cold lavender lemonade, a homemade cookie and a refreshing swim in our new salt water heated pool. Ahhhhh, now that’s a perfect vacation on Cape Cod!
