Many of us are on a mission to improve our health! A big part of that is what we eat and how much we move, and I love quoting one of my mom’s favorite saying “You are what you eat!”

At the Captain Freeman Inn we strive to provide our guests with a comfortable, natural setting that is quiet and peaceful. The inn is filled with gardens-both flower and vegetables and we are continually working to provide our guests with the freshest food possible when preparing our breakfasts. The above picture tickles me as several years ago we had guests staying with us that were on a very strict diet of vegetables only. We had fun grilling fresh vegetables for them, many from our garden. They ate every bite and we enjoyed creating new vegan organic plates.

Several years ago we were delighted when a new business opened in Brewster, Karma Food and Wellness. They share our philosophy of healthy living. With vegetable and herb gardens along the side of their building, they are a dedicated gluten free kitchen and serve up delicious vegetable bowls, soups, baked goods and specialty cold pressed juices and smoothies. They also can add wheatgrass shots for that extra blast of goodness.

In addition to their wonderful takeout, they also offer yoga, meditation and physical fitness classes along with workshops and programs for everyone as a part of individual health and wellness plans.

We frequent their shop often in the summer when we have gluten free guests staying with us as their banana bread, cookies and chocolate almond bombs are to die for. Check out their healthy menu, it’s filled with many healthy options.

During your stay with us, stop by Karma for a delicious take out lunch or snack that you can enjoy on the beach or while enjoying a summer baseball game. You may want to also enjoy a yoga or meditation class during your stay. Check out their schedule here.

Afterwards come back to the inn and enjoy all of our healthy living details and relax in our gardens listening to the many songbirds that surround us.
