Captain William Freeman completed building this beautiful home in 1866. Just as he intended, our guests can “rock” the hot summer days away in beautiful rocking chairs on the front porch. Reading the newspaper in the morning with your first cup of coffee or an afternoon repast with lemonade, or an evening glass of wine helps make one realize what the good life was and continues to be.
The Captain Freeman is just as elegant inside as the outside porch shown here. Beautiful craftsmenship is evident in the hand pulled plaster moldings and medallions on the first floor with the beautiful chevron patterened hardword floors. The inn boasts a formal winter dining room, a grand parlor / front room, a guest pantry area and a tea room on the first floor.
Donna and Byron have been innkeepers on Cape Cod for over 11 years. It’s a perfect match as both love hospitality, good food and living on Cape Cod. The Captain Freeman was their dream property and became available after sitting vacant for several years in 2011. The couple could not resist and have totally remodeled this sea captains home; keeping in mind William Freeman’s original intentions, the renovation have included restoring many of the original details.
Donna and Byron have three wonderful grown children and left behind careers in Houston where Byron was a Geologist and Donna a Furniture Buyer . Their professional experience has been an invaluable asset while decorating and remodeling this magnificent building.
Lastly, the couple have a lovable Labradoodle Harrison, who loves to visit with guests as well.
Exhaling on Cape Cod and loving every minute of it!
